easterntreeskier.com is a site for the eastern tree skiing and riding community. It is currently produced by a Boston area amateur skier, hence the "personal" quirks like "bikes". The goal is to bring together people who love to ski trees, share their experiences, and over time, expand the sport.

easterntreeskier.com is not about discovering and publishing all the secret stashes. You can always share without being overly precise. Anyways, the bulk of the trails reviewed and discussed on this site are at resorts and on trail maps. They were always available to and mainly originally created by locals; putting the trails on the maps irks quite a few people. As far as other terrain, legally, easterntreeskier.com in no way endorses or condones skiing outside legal, open terrain. There, I said it.

easterntreeskier.com is self-funded, supported by ads and eventually, merchandise. The owners of the respective areas, lodges, productes and services have in no way paid for placement or endorsed these pages in anyway, unless it is clearly indicated to be an adverstisement. If you want to support the site, click on a few ads; coming soon, purchase a T-shirt. . If you have comments or suggestions, email "webmaster at easterntreeskier.com" or register for the forum and post an article. Places to look for power stashes are welcome of course, but I understand...

Hope to see you in the trees.

Why eastern tree skier?

I haven't found a site dedicated to the practice of eastern tree skiing. The eastern forests are tighter, denser, and nastier than the western glades. We find refuge here from the icy, congested slopes. The hills are so small, racing top to bottom gets real old real fast. Then there is the powder on good days... And there is always the challenge: bumps, steeps, and obstacles all at the same time. For the eastern skier, tree skiing gives us a little bit of the "big mountain" feeling.

Tree skiing opens up vastly more terrain for the eastern skier. If you are an advanced skier tired of yet another 45 second dash down to the bottom, slap on a brain bucket, practice some moguls, and then mellow out and dive in.
